Some asshole in town yesterday pulled a hit-and-run and killed a 4-year old girl. There are some people in this world who I wish would die a very slow, painful, torturous death over and over and over and over and over.................. :|

We had a couple of kids get hit and killed in the last two weeks because their bus stops are on extremely busy roads. Stupid school system. :< :<

Hang in there, Tt. We all have those days, some more than others.....

I am going to a Willie Nelson concert tonight :)

For some reason out of every band I have ever gone to see (and there are a lot) Willie turns me into a fan girl. Literally. It is almost embarrassing lol

Have fun Hello!

I had a day for the record books today. Lots of trouble on the plant floor, customers calling with problems, new customers wanting information, I didn't answer emails, my shoulder was screaming in pain, and I had to leave by 2:00 for a doctor's appointment. I felt like I was being pulled apart. I just wanted to open a window and yell, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" But I didn't. Instead I just put a smile on my face, said goodbye to everyone and went to my appointment where I had my shoulder massaged, got some ultrasound treatment, got laser treatment, and talked to the doctor about kindles, I pads, the state of the horror industry, and the weather. In New England, you always have to talk about the weather.

Right now its around 70 degree's and absolutely beautiful.

Have fun, Hello.

It rained here like hell, black skies, high winds, and a tornado warning while I was at the library after work. We had to go to the designated safety area during the warning. Unlike last week, though, no tornadoes, that I know of.

Here's a joke that might lighten things for you, Tt.

A man walks into a bar. At the end of the bar is a horse with a pot of money in front of it. The man keeps glancing down at the horse. Finally, the bartender goes over to the man.

"I see you're interested in the horse," the bartender says. "If you make the horse laugh, you get the money."

The man finishes his beer, goes to the horse and whispers something. The horse falls to its knees, laughing hard. The man takes the pot of money and leaves.

A couple of months later, the man goes into the same bar. The horse is still there, with another pot of money in front of it. The man walks to the bar.

"I remember you, you made the horse laugh. This time to get the money, you have to make him cry," the bartender says.

"Pour me a beer and I'll be right back," the man says. He goes to the horse and immediately the horse begins crying huge tears, sobbing uncontrollably. The man picks up the money, goes back to his seat and drinks from his beer.

The bartender is astonished. "What did you say to the horse?"

"Well," the man says, "the first time I told him my dick was bigger than his and the second time I showed him."

I'm having a good day. I'm getting geared up for the big Halifax Word on the Street festival. I'll be emcee for two different YA authors, followed by a half hour reading of my own - and then three different signings of my books at three different bookseller tables.

I'm all geared up. I'll be telling the story of the Hidey-Hinder, reading a story or two from Maritime Monsters and then reading a tease-chapter from my upcoming YA novel Deeper, due out this spring from Nimbus. I'm really excited about the book's impending release, even though it is a half a year away yet. The book is a marvelous tale of sea serpents and caber tossing.

And I'll also be making an exciting announcement about an upcoming regional release. I love me a surprise.

In October I'll be heading for Cape Breton for a brand new literary festival. They'll be paying my travel, feeding me, and paying for either a stay in hotel or a bed and breakfast - as well as a very tidy honorarium. And later in October I've been asked to go to a local ritzy camp/lodge to tell ghost stories - again for an exchange of food and board.

I love me a working vacation.

Wow, a Judge in Canada has ruled that Prostition laws are unconstitutional.

Prostitution has basically been decriminalized...

Really? I wonder if it will wind up helping these girls in the long run by making it safer for them and the people who use their services.

On a kind of related note, I was listening to the radio on my way to work yesterday and they were talking about Michael Douglas (an actor) and his throat cancer. When asked how he might of got it, he said there were three ways 1) abusing tobacco 2) abusing alcohol and 3) oral sex. Now I had never heard of oral sex causing throat cancer and apparently one of the hosts of the show had not either. But the other host said that yes it happens when a woman has the HPV virus and a man performs oral sex on her.

I was talking to the girls at work about the whole interview and they said that yes they have heard of this. HPV can cause cervical cancer and the same virus can cause throat cancer. I'm still flabbergasted by this whole thing. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Oh man. Thanks for posting J.D. I think I have to learn more about this virus. And no, not because I'm with different women, I'm married. But this virus sounds awful scary.

Man, that is news to me too. I never would have thought you could get cancer from giving oral sex. I should have know though. No matter what you do, you always seem to be at risk of getting cancer.

I remember back in my late teens in high school a doctor was telling the class about safer sex and to use a condom, etc. He said that if you tested everyone for the HPV virus almost anyone who is sexually active has it. He said most people with it are asymptomatic.

I thought I had tongue cancer thursday night. It felt like I had a hair in my throat and when I couldn't cough it out I looked in the mirror and saw all these ugly bumps on the back of my tongue. Talk about getting scared. I spent all night on the internet looking it up, and getting even more scared. Finally, around midnight, I saw a picture that looked exactly like what I had and I followed a bunch of lincs. I'll give it a few more days, but my tongue is getting better (though I have a terrific sore throat), but from what the link says, it's fairly common, a reaction to something, and it should get better in 4 - 7 days. I do have a doctors appointment in about 9 days so I can have him look at it then if it gets worse.

But I've quit cigars, this scared me too much. Been two full days now.
