Finally finished The Shining Girls. Wow. Well worth a read, if only for the victims' character vignettes. Those were beautifully done. |

A bunch of Ray Bradbury stories. It's years since I paid a visit, and I don't know, they seem better the second time around. |

I've just hauled my way through Robert McCammon's Speaks The Nightbird. Going off the current zeitgeist, I suspect I'm supposed to hate this book - recent flack boldly suggests 'novels shouldn't be too long', the attitudes toward women are archaic etc etc. But despite the fact I could have buried an ice pick in some of the characters' foreheads, I really enjoyed it. A historical whodunnit, a plot that behaved in the manner of Mr Toad's Wilde Ride, a couple of squick, gory moments, and utterly maddening but engrossing characters within. It was glorious. |

Sideshow by William Ollie. Really good so far. Love reading carnival stories for fall and Halloween. |

I finished The Willows by Algernon Blackwood this morning. What a great old story. I will definitely be reading this again. now I'll be reading this starting this afternoon. So excited! I really wanted to read in opening day, but I had company. Next time I'm telling them to leave, I have things to do. |

(Hope you like it, Shadow! Fingers and toes crossed.) I'm in the midst of reading 11/22/63. Fully immersed in Derry, loving all the 'IT' touchstones and general spookiness. |
