I know everyone on here realizes that when you read an amazing writer, you close the book with a feeling of having actually been through all that the characters in the story experienced. Kind of like when you lay down to sleep after an amazing book, you almost have to remind yourself that you really didn't just go through it all. But that's how I feel when I read Robert McCammon. Taking readers and putting them right in the story is one thing, but being able to make them feel the lifeforce of the characters is another kind of writing magic. And the way McCammon does it, well, that is some amazing talent. |

Just finished Mystery Walk, which was considered his masterpiece during his early years, and I have to say that it was one of the best horror novels I've ever read. Billy Creekmore's journey is an amazing one, and particularly his early years in Hawthorne were electric. |

I didn't finish Wolf's Hour. Due to headaches and lost interest in reading anything for a bit. so I picked up Queen of Bedlam, that's been on my shelf for 2 years. This has put the zest back into reading. a really great book. also, thanks for the update Hunter. I love news like this. |

Finished off Queen of Bedlam last night. what a great book. I can't wait for the next Corbett book now. I found myself sad when I finished it last night. but that just means that I really enjoyed the book. Thank you, Mr. McCammon for picking up the pen again (as it were). I love all the books I've ever read by you! which is most of them. |

my fave of all time bar none is Boys Life, absolutely fantastic book, I actually cried at a certain part the first time I read that book.... Stinger and Swang Song are two other great books... I picked up Speaks The Nightbird the other day but it's so long it's a bit intimidating to start, but I know I've got to read it and the two follow ups |

Reading Speaks The Nightbird right now, and am loving it. I have a lot more of McCammon's novels to read, but so far I've never come across anything by him I didn't think was excellent. And let's not even get everyone started on how much of a classic Boy's Life is. |

I only recently read Boy's Life having been recommended via a discussion group on Amazon, I can honestly say it is one..if not the best book I have ever had the pleasure to read. I find myself constantly thinking about the book's content the thrilling images and the flowing magical prose. I have just ordered Mine and Speak the Nightbird and expect I will attempt to soucre all his books. It is wonderful to discover a truly brilliant author and I look forward to posting my views in the future. |
