Craig, I'd recommend you read Koontz's "Dragon Tears". It's basically the same "Dead by Dawn" premise but IMO much more suspenseful.

"Tick Tock" was just too "funny" for my taste.

Other Koontz recommendations I can mention: "Whispers", "Cold Fire", "The Taking" and "The Voice of the Night", to name a few.

I like Koontz's older works. My favorite is Lightning. I thought Odd Thomas was good but the sequels were terrible.

I read " Tick Tock " and was so impressed by it I couldn't remember what it was about until I read Craig's post

Haven't read Tick Tock but I loved the Good Guy. I also loved the first Odd Thomas book but was so disappointed with book 2, and now after finishing book 3, I've decided not to pick up Odd Hours (Book 4). If you want a fast paced read by Koontz that people don't mention often, I highly recommend Darkfall. A cool (literally) procedural with some voodoo tossed into the mix. I couldn't put it down!
