Post subject: | Two New Reviews... |
I posted these over on my message board, but I'm so tickled about them I figure I'll post them here as well. There's always more room in the cellar, isn't there? Just yesterday a brand new review appeared in our local Halifax Herald. And a week or two ago another review was written for the Fredericton Daily Gleaner and was picked up by the Ottawa Sun. These are my first real newspaper reviews, and I'm awfully excited. Between the two of them they raise my storytelling profile from the Maritimes right out to Toronto. Ontario libraries are carrying my book, and very likely Ontario bookstores. This is the kind of exposure, as a writer, that I've been dreaming of. |

I have not started Steve's new book yet, although it has been sitting on top of my pile for the last few days. The accouting course is taking its toll on me this term. The work is overwhelming and they are pounding me at every side. I have barely had time for reading (for entertainment, that is) in the last week and it haunts me like a plague. Only four more years for my CGA designation....yay! I am going to be in school forever, it seems... ![]() |

As for Plague Monkey Spam, I have been reluctant to say much about it because Steve was so kind to mention me in it and I'm afraid I will come off as biased, but I will say its the wildest, craziest, and most f-cked up novel Steve has ever written. It is the definition of "wierd fiction" with the most sex I ever read in a Steve Vernon novel (including a huge vagina, and I mean huge!). Needless to say after the shock wore off...I loved it. Tt |

A huge vagina? I have to read this. I love weird horror. If it's written right it can freak you out just as bad as classic tales of hauntings and possession. TT, is it as weird as the stuff Carlton Mellick writes? You're getting into beyond weird with Mellick. Speaking of vaginas, he wrote The Haunted Vagina. Maybe we should call this the vagina thread? ![]() |

I've never read Mellick so I can't compare. I can say that this is Steve with all the stops pulled out. I can't even compare it to any other of his novella's. If you are going to order, I'd do it soon, the run is very limited, and I think this piece is going to be discussed and debated vigourously when it comes to reviewing Steve's body of work. Tt |

And as a conincidence (I think) Tim Waggoner's "Like Death" had a scene with a huge vagina. Tim wrote the introduction to Plague Monkey Spam. Tt |

When Roy asked me to find someone to write an intro the only writer wild enough that I could think of was Tim Waggoner. Speaking of pulling out all of the stops, check this link out... |
