DARKLINGS was my second novel, written immediately after my first, SEDUCTIONS. I was a mere boy when I wrote them (19 for SEDUCTIONS, 20 for DARKLINGS), so keep that in mind if you read them. DARKLINGS was inspired by a recurring nightmare I had for awhile. And before that, SEDUCTIONS was inspired by a Stephen King interview I read. He said something about trying to come up with a novel involving vagina dentata but not being able to make the idea work, or something -- so I quickly decided to write a book about vaginas with fangs, and it became my first published novel. They were followed by the novelization of Tobe Hooper's remake of INVADERS FROM MARS, then came LIVE GIRLS and CRUCIFAX.
