Graham Masterton ...
Any Graham Masterton fans here? I remember reading THE MANITOU back in school and loving it, and I quickly snatched up everything else I could find by him. He's been a pretty reliable (and extremely prolific) storyteller who's turned out one good book after another. I admit I haven't read all his stuff -- there's so MUCH of it! -- but I've read a great deal of it. At the moment, among other things, I'm reading THE DOOR KEEPERS. I just started it, but so far, it's pulling me along well. Any favorites among his titles?
I've read a bunch of Masterton and he is one of my favorite horror novelists. He's like junk food, you just want to gobble him down and you keep coming back for more. No heavy lifting with Graham, just a lot of fun.
These are the horror related novels of his that I've read.
The Manitou - A fun read
Djnn - Sequel to Manitou also a fun read
Channel House - ok read
Revenge Of The Manitou - I liked this one too
Wells Of Hell - One of my favorites, a crazy book
Tengu - ok read
Night Warriors - The first and best of the series
Mirror - ok read, not one of his best
Ritual - ok read
Prey - ok read
Night Plague - First Night Warriors sequel, it was o.k.
Burial - Starring our pal Harry Erskine I liked this one
Spirit - A really enjoyable novel
House That Jack Built - I couldn't stand this one
Door Keepers - An o.k. read, not very exciting for me
Devil In Gray - Not a very good novel, very weak all around.
Unspeakable - My favorite Mastertron novel. The ending blew me away.
Manitou Blood - I'll take a Harry Erskine novel any day!
Night Wars - The worst book Mastertron has ever written (that I read).
Edgewise - I enjoyed it.

I have enjoyed Graham Masterton quite a bit, although, I have to admit that compared to how much he wrote, I have hardly put a dent in his bibliography.
I'm a huge Masterton fan. I've read a lot of his work and am always on the hunt for his earlier novels. As discussed in another thread, his Wells of Hell was a damn fun read. A bit cheesy, and a bit dated, but a book to enjoy on the beach while sipping a frosty drink.

I haven't read any of his works though I have quite a few of them on my TBR. Tony let me know what you think of The 5th Witch. I am going to give that one a try first if the general consensus is a good one.

I've only read one of his novels but I thought it was brilliant. It was Prey. That novel included a few Lovecraft creations in it, had time travel and a haunted house involved. It was a lot of fun to read.

I love Masterton. And oddly, he hardly ever shows up on horror discussion groups.
I love how he merges disparate mythological and supernatural elements and somehow connects the dots without making a muddle of it all.
ttzuma, I've read almost everything on your list, plus Trauma (my personal favorite), A Terrible Beauty, Feast, and The Chosen Child. Oh, and the anthology he edited, Scare Care.
However, I have not, nor do I ever plan to read any of his sex manuals.
Gosh, I clicked the linc after I posted it and nothing happened. If its not my computer I'll repost it here. If it doesn't work, just head on over to his offical site and click on fiction.
There is some neat stuff here if you're a fan (missing chapters and bit from his novels) and whole short stories.
I would LOVE to get my hands on Masterton's sex manuals, just out of curiosity.
Someone pointed out that Masterton is seldom mentioned in horror discussions. That's true. He's one of the most neglected and underappreciated writers in the genre, and yet the most prolific.

Ray, be careful with those sex manuals: we don't want you to wind up hanging from a ceiling fan dressed in S&M high octane leathers!
My intro to Masterton was A Terrible Beauty, which I think came out with a different title? That blew me away. Master of Lies was an old one I just read last month and that was really good; some real freaky stuff in that one.
The 5th Witch just arrived; I have that and The House That Jack Built in my to be read pile.
BTW-Ray-I thought the last sentence of Ravenous was a brilliant ending! Awesome work! Any chance of a future sequel to Ravenous?

Horrordude -- I'm glad you enjoyed RAVENOUS! I am, at this very moment, writing the sequel, BESTIAL. Leisure bought it recently. It's due at the end of June, and I'm doing my best to meet that deadline, but I don't know ...
I think I posted this in another thread, Horrordude, but I'll repeat it for the benefit of anyone who missed it. In BESTIAL, I've brought back Karen Moffett and Gavin Keoph, the two investigators from NIGHT LIFE, the sequel to LIVE GIRLS. Also in BESTIAL, there will be an appearance by Davey Owen, the protagonist of LIVE GIRLS. Moffett and Keoph go to Big Rock to investigate the possible presence of werewolves. In the untitled follow-up to BESTIAL, which Leisure has also purchased, the two investigators will find themselves in the middle of a vicious, bloody battle between the vampires of LIVE GIRLS and NIGHT LIFE and the werewolves of RAVENOUS and BESTIAL, thus linking all the books into a series. After that, I'll be writing mostly in the ongoing series that follows Moffett and Keoph as they investigate various bizarre paranormal goings-on around the country.
Cool. Since we don't have a bookstore, any books that I'm interested in that I can get through the club saves me a trip to Amazon. I look forward to it.

I've read every novel he has released been a fan since the 80's to be honest though i think is output has been pretty poor since The Doorkeepers. I really hope he manges to find his muse again. Night Wars and Manitou Blood, had the smell of an author just going through the motions to pay the rent.
