Masturbation, my ass! I wish! I'll tell ya what's going on right now with me, Ray: I have a throbbing toothache that has me drinking a bottle of canadian whiskey dated 1983 (I can't even remember where it came from) and I'm watching the movie One Missed Call, as far as that is concerned, it's like who farted? It sucks donkey wang. And yes, this night wouldn't be complete without what I just found in my mailbox-a nifty rejection notice on the last story I sent out ... I have truly discovered a hell worse than American Idol!  I need some of that nuclear grass Jim Morrison used to toke.

Damn, that SUCKS! I've been having an on-again-off-again tootache, very minor, but I know how awful those are -- there's no relief. And nothing sucks worse than rejection. But don't let it get you down. For us writers, rejection is nothing more than encouragement -- we have no choice but to move on to the next! I hope the weekend is better for you. |

Thanks, Ray. I'm the kind of guy who likes to tape his rejection slips to his forehead, so I know to do better when I sit down to write next time. I'm in pain, but wired now that you've said you're working on a sequel to Ravenous! And what a killer title: Bestial! I want my copy now! I don't care if it's not finished!

I'm glad news of BESTIAL cheered you up, Horrordude. Tying all these books together is a bit of a pain in the ass because it requires me to go back and revisit those other books, and I HATE reading my old stuff, especially if it's been published and it's impossible to fix anything. NIGHT SHIFT was especially traumatic. I feel I should formally apologize for that book. I was quite ill at the time I wrote it and didn't have all thrusters firing, and boy does it show. But BESTIAL will be better, I guarantee. Here's a little teaser -- it begins with the first werewolf birth. |

This guy goes to the dentist to have a tooth pulled and he is scared to death of the pain involved. The dentist asks the guy if he wants to be put under with gas. "No!", cries the guy, "I'm afraid I won't wake up!" "Well" says the Dentist, "I can give you a shot of novacain." "No" cries the guy again, "I'm deathly afraid to needles!" "Hummm" says the Dentist, "O.K. I can give you a pill." "A pill?" the guy says, "yeah, thats great, I'll take a pill!" The Dentist hands a guy a blue pill and on it is stamped Viagra. "Viagra?" the man says, "I didn't know this would help with pain!" "It won't ", said the Dentist, "but you're gonna be in so much pain you're gonna need something to hold on to when I pull that tooth." |
