Catcher In The Rye ... hmm ... there's a book I've read more than once. Timeless classic. If Salinger had only written this and nothing more he could have been content.

With the way uptight society is today, I'm surprised it's still being read in highschools with all the negative crap you hear about it, thanks to nutballs like Chapman and Hinckley.

I think it's still being read in schools, isn't it? If not, then this is what I have to say:

I'm pretty sure it is still being read at the high school level. If it's not, it should be.

I wore my old copy out and just purchased a new hard cover that should last me awhile.

I thought Catcher In The Rye had been banned in the US? It was never part of the curriculum in the schools that I have attended here in Canada. I thought it was a wonderful book but I read it a long time ago on my own.

I should really get another copy and read it again.

The U.S. Federal Government does not ban publicly sold books Paulo but individual school districts can. And that did indeed happen with this book in many schools.
