hi, im new here but i love horror. i am a 36 male who is living on disabilty now thanks to diabetes, and i reside in orlando fl. my fave writers are stephen king, bentley little, brian keene, nancy collins, poppy brite, robert mccammon, joe lansdale, richard laymon, nacy kilpatrick and laurel k hamilton.
also, im an aspiring horror novelist working on my first book now.

My name is Thad, and I'm one of eight people who live in the Columbus, Ohio, area that does not like the Ohio State Buckeyes, which means I have great fun during football season telling people that OSU will lose each week. I am a Chicago Cubs fan.

I read mostly horror and mystery/thriller/spy stuff nowadays, but occasionally I'll read a scifi or fantasy author I enjoy. As far as horror goes, I like Barker, Waggoner, Braunbeck, and I pimp for some dude named Vernon. I also like to read books that I think will make ttzuma roll his eyes when he sees the title.

I have bought some signed books and I did join the Cemetery Dance book club this year.

I hope to be more conversational on this board than I was on a previous one. I might even aspire to be the plucky comic relief.

Hey everyone, me name's Alan Draven and I'm a writer of Dark Fiction (Horror, Dark Fantasy, Dark Suspense and soon Dark Sci-Fi). My first novel, Bitternest, was released almost a year ago and has been doing quite well in the past months. My favorite writers are Dean Koontz, David Morrell, Jack Ketchum, Frank Miller, and many more in the horror genre. My favorite directors are Stanley Kubrick and John Carpenter. Some of my favorite films of all-time include Goodfellas, Seven, Apocalypse Now, Rocky, Halloween, and The Big Sleep. Favorite bands are Led Zep, Sabbath, Doors, Def Lep, NIN, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, and the list goes on. I'm old school through and through.

Hello,

It's good to meet all of you. I came to this board because of the awesome Pod of Horror podcast that Mark Justice puts out. I like to read and write horror among many hobbies. I write about once a month for the Vintage Horror site where I focus on old time horror writers such as M.R. James, Joesph Payne Brennan, E.F. Benson and that sort. I also just sold my first short story "The Collective of Blaque Reach", to Dead Letter Press. It was the promo chap book that comes with orders for the evil books anthology, Bound For Evil.
I believe the best writer ever is Ramsey Campbell. I also enjoy some James Herbert, Dan Simmons, Raven Bower, and the classics (M.R. James, H.P. Lovecraft).
I only have two signed copies of books, The Grin of the Dark by Ramsey Campbell, and Raven Bower's Apparitions.

Hey Matt glad to meet you! And congrats on selling your first story! Hopefully it will be the first of many for you.

I enjoy all of the writers you mentioned except for Campbell. I am not a fan, and I can honestly say that I've tried many times to read him... but I don't think I ever finished one of his novels to the end. Starting with The Doll Who Ate It's Mother (was that the name? It came out so long ago) up to a short story book of his dealing with his sex stories. But I know where we came from others really enjoyed his stuff.

So once again glad to meet you and congrats!!! I'm a bit envious!

ok..... Let's see..... I am no good at these types of things.

Who am I? I am a bookaholic. Seriously I can't not have a book near me. Actually it is two books because I might finish the first one and have to resort to reading the water bottle or gum wrapper and that would suck.
I love horror. I love the rush that it gives me. The chill that goes down your spine. That little drop of sweat that forms when you are alone reading in the night. I enjoy a good horror movie. Not a slasher Jason type move but more of a creepy ghostie, hellraiser, monster, mist type movie.
I generally read horror. Love Dean Koontz, John Saul, Stephen King, Brian Keene, Norman Partridge, Robert McCammon, Richard Laymon, Bentley Little, Edward Lee, Steve Vernon, Michael Laimo, Graham Masterton, Sarah Pinborough and the like. Although I do love me some paranoramal stuff too. I like paranormal romances. Hell I just love to read.
I don't have any signed books. I tend to spend way to much money on books to pay for someone's signature.
I have two dogs. A white lab and a german shorthair and now 3 cats. I am trying to lure in the stray cat from my front yard. So far I am able to get a foot or so away from him. Much better then across the street.
I am 40 years old and never married. Although you might consider me married since I have lived with the same guy for the last 18 years.
I have been dieting since last april and lost 36 pounds so far. I am doing it slowly so it stays off this time. I can't believe the difference already.
I am a firm believer in ghosts. After all not believing is taken away when you see one.
Hmmmm I am not sure what else to say lol
