Writing group exercise?

The countdown begins...

Only 3 days left at my part-time job. Only 3 days of class left at UMKC before I'm done forever. 10 days until we take a much-needed family vacation.

You all have no idea how excited I am to be rejoining the world, and all the wonderful folks here. :hi

As such, does anyone have any interest in doing one of our group writing exercises again? We could set the deadline for a little ways off, to give everyone plenty of time. I need to get the creative juices flowing again.

I've never participated in something like this but I've been wanting to give it a try. I would definitely be interested, just need more details to decide. I don't wanna stretch myself too thin (two jobs, etc.).

I was looking at this yesterday and all my current WIP's and thinking omgomgomg <--- hyperventilating but I'd forgotten about the 1K word limit. That's do-able so I'm in.

Also, though we do not know who's stories are who's, we do know who contributed. We have, as of late anyway, tried to get a published author, one who is well known, to do the moderating.

At least to have the option, if Janet wants to stick to 1000 that is fine...

Hey guys!

Great fun meeting many of you at Necon over the weekend, and it's an honor to be asked to moderate your writing exercise.

The theme (and obviously it can be interpreted in many ways: nautical, aural, crowds human and inhuman, negative emotional states, and on and on...) is:

"Black Waves"

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

On a minor note, it was via a similar writing exercise over a decade ago that I first hatched the idea for a certain ghost-afflicted young man who went on to feature in my most successful book series...
