It bounces all over the place. Introduces some cool ideas and then just ignores them. Tonto, Depp's character is both the clown AND the straight man. Usually, I like Depp. This time I think he should have just stuck to producing the movie. Armie Hammer, John Reid/Lone Ranger, has the hardest part of the film. Sadly, because the writers went all over the place with him. Serious. Comic. Befuddled. Smart. Stupid. For THE TITLE CHARACTER they were clueless what to do with him. Some of the special effects were awesome, but in several scenes, it became way too much and were not really needed. With such a budget they could have afforded to get a REAL herd of buffalo which would have been cheaper. In a couple of places, it felt like it was originally intended to be a western version of The Crow, but was co-opted to become a Disney movie.
If you really feel the need to see this movie, go see it as a matinee at your local dollar theater.

No plans to see this. Review are pretty bad and the trailer didn't intrigue me at all. I did see Star Trek finally and I thought it was pretty fantastic.
