Horror World Anthology of Short Fiction – Volume 1 edited by Christopher Jones and Nanci Kalanta Horror World is excited to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the Horror World Anthology of Short Fiction – Volume 1 to be published in e-book format at the end of 2012. Trade PB to follow in 2013 (provided the world doesn't end). The following are the guidelines for submission. *Manuscripts should be 500 to 5000 words in length. Exceptions will be made either over or under the word limit based on quality. Poetry will be considered. *Manuscripts should be single spaced with breaks instead of indentations to denote new paragraphs. Please use size 12 Times New Roman font. Manuscripts should be submitted in DOC or DOCX formats. *We accept electronic submissions only through the following email address: submissions@horrorworld.org. Please allow up to 3 months for a response. *No multiple submissions. Please wait until you receive an acceptance or rejection before sending another story. *We accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if your submission is accepted elsewhere. *Payment: Horror World pays 2 cents per word for First Worldwide Electronic and Print Rights. Payment is made upon publication. *We will be accepting submissions until October 31, 2012 *Any type of horror-related story is acceptable but we are looking for stories that are scary and original or stories that bring a fresh perspective to a familiar trope. |

I thought "wassr" had been banned before for this crap. And if he wasn't, why?  Back on the topic of this thread - Nanci, I realized that this thread isn't locked when viewing it from the Cellar, but up in the "Read this before posting" section of the forum (which is where I originally saw it), it is locked. I didn't know that was possible. |

If Nanci is still traveling and can't respond to this, I'll get involved, but I don't want to be banning people without talking to her first. Wassr, I think I know who you are, and it appears you are off your meds again. Shouldn't you be fighting with the guys over on Shocklines? |

There's such a difference between the print and online formatting requirements, in the end I gave up and I write in a format that is comfortable. For me that's black screen, colored text, large print. It's easy on the eye, especially after my retina op and the fact that I'm sometimes staring at the monitor for up to five hours at a time. Then I convert. It's no picnic formatting a novel, certainly, although I've made it part of my editing process. |

OK Folks - due to the overwhelming number of submissions we've received over the last couple of weeks, we're going to have to close to submissions on September 30th so get your stories in before that date. There are a lot of submissions to go through and if we're going to meet our deadline of the end of the year, we need to take this action. I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too much but we discussed it and are hopeful that the 2+ week's notice will give you enough time to polish your stories and get them to us. |

Below is the latest table of contents based on public postings. In additional news, Nanci and Chris has announced that all profits from the sales of the anthology will be donated to Tom Piccirilli in order to assist with his medical bills! Also, from what I understand, there is still at least one more story to be announced from another well known horror author. Both Nanci and Chris are still combing through the submissions and have not yet finished selecting stories. Very soon. Nanci had some setbacks with a broken laptop and getting rabies shots, but she says she is back on track. |
