My buddy from the US Navy, Don Paresi, who used to do comic books and trading cards, has broken into doing book covers in the horror world...he's already done a few for me, but this time he's outdoing himself...

My upcoming Supernatural Mystery "Vintage Blood" is due out from both Five Star AND Bad Moon Books...

Here's Don's back cover for the Bad Moon Books Edition ...just the BACK mind you...

The front is even cooler...

He did wrap-around covers for my Bloodletting Books novel "Ancient Eyes," and my Sarob Press Collection, "Defining Moments," but this one is already my favorite.

I draw a little...and have painted in the past, but I knew at some point (like with music) that while I might end up "okay" - I'm a GOOD writer with real potential...I never would have made a splash in art or music ... though I play guitar and sing every day, and still write songs...

Writing is what I do...even when I'm not doing it...it's what I'm doing in my head...

I think it's the kind of art I would hang on my wall. I'm way in to horror art, any kind of wicked tattoo art, Clive Barker's art, H.R. Giger ... anything that grabs you by the throat and squeezes.

Don sells his originals, and will sell prints too...just saying. He's doing crap work (two jobs) to make child-support payments that are killing him...so he works when he has time...still tries to be a good dad...he's a very cool guy...least *I* think so...

But man, could he and I tell some stories...US Navy back in the day was a little ... different.

Those are amazing pieces. I'm certainly glad your friend is getting look-sees from publishers. A book with cover art like this would make me pick it up and check it out.

Just another glimpse for anyone who didn't see it. Last year Sarob Press released a collection of my stories that made the final ballot for the Stoker (one of the stories, "The Gentle Brush of Wings," won the short fiction category) The cover art for that was also by Don, and the publisher was so taken with it, he only put a tiney stylized title on the spine - nothing on the front at all (lol)

Dave, when I went to your site I thought it was confusing. I didn't see a list of your novels and where you can purchase them. I tooled around a bit and saw a listing of some novels and samples of them, but nothing lined up with a linc to get em.

Maybe I missed it?

On the right hand side of my page you can click to the NOVELS page

From there on the right you'll see a separate page for each novel (it's still in progress, some are missing) and for those that I have copies of or a buying link, you'll see a link that says "BUY" beside it...

Right now I have copies of Deep Blue, The Mote in Andrea's Eye, and This is My Blood. Ancient Eyes is sold out, but one of the local bookstores has copies, so if you order through me I can get and personalize one for you.

All of my upcoming work (including a VERY few of the novella "The Not Quite Right Reverend Cletus J. Diggs & the Currently Accepted Habits of Nature") can be pre-ordered now at The Horror Mall..

Eventually all of my novels will have their own space, but the old stuff has been set aside for a while as I try to catch up with putting up info on the new...

I also have ONE full copy of my White Wolf Trilogy "The Grails Covenant" for sale - just haven't decided what to ask for it. Right now there's two copies of the third book on eBay - the cheapest is just under $20 - the publisher took book 3 out of print BEFORE Books 1 & 2 ...??? Anyway, the whole set is sort of rare.

Thanks Dave. I don't care for Horror Mall all that much due to the long time it takes for them to ship stuff. I still do purchase things from them but only when there is no other option. I had to wait weeks after everybody else got Plague Monkey Spam and that still gets my goat.

I ordered Roll Them Bones from Amazon. I purchased it new, not used.

I'll let you know what I think of it after I read it.

You can get the "The Not Quite Reverend...'" for a short time still from Bad Moon Books, the publisher...

Looking forward to hearing what you think of Roll Them Bones...odd you got it new, it's been oop for a while. Someone must have bought some for resale.

Many people seem to think that Roll Them Bones was my best ... though a lot has come since then and I hope it's not true. Who wants to believe they've already done their best.

I didn't know it was out of print. It said "NEW" so I assumed it was.

Man...now you got me thinking. How does one know when the author is going to get royalites? In this case, maybe you already got them when the seller bought it.

Now I understand (I think) why authors push Horror Mall and buying directly from the small press instead of Amazon. If you purchase from Amazon when it says "NEW" how does the customer know if the author will recieve royalties? In this case, I might have purchased a used one for less money.

Amazon sells CD titles, and they may have ordered some. WHen it went out of print, they may have restocked...a few dealers still have some ... in any case, CD doesn't pay royalties on the novella series. I got a single payment, up front, and that was it...so it's cool....heck, send it to me and I'll personalize it if you want.
