...or perhaps a more apt title would be The Author Strikes Back? There has been much speculation, as well as some confirmed and half-confirmed information, about what the hell is going on with my former publisher, Dorchester Publishing/Leisure Books. There is some insightful info at website about this, as well as on the websites, online journals, Facebooks, etc, of other authors. Are they going bankrupt? Have they shut their doors? For my part, I've remained quiet on this front. I haven't joined any boycotts and I haven't spoken much about this publicly. That changes now. I only had one novel published through Dorchester, a moderately successful horror/thriller called Snow. Perhaps some of you have read it. I was paid my advance and my first royalty statement on the book. What I am currently owed are: 1. My next royalty statement 2. My withholdings from the previous statement 3. Advance and sales from the audio book from Dark Realms Audio 4. Advance and sales from the German edition published by Heyne/Random House 5. A signed letter granting me a reversion of rights to the novel, since they are in breach of contract Last week, my lawyer sent them a certified letter telling them what they owe me (in case they forgot). The letter states that if all these outstanding debts aren't met within seven days, legal action will be taken. That is where we are now. I'll update this whenever possible. Given the nature of lawyers, the courts, and all that good stuff, I may not be able to post certain things. I'm sure you'll understand. More as I get it, Ronald |

Thanks Ron for keeping us up to date. I feel so badly for those who haven't been paid for all their hard work. |
