This is from the back cover of my new book, out in a few weeks. I got the idea for it years ago when I asked myself what kind of book I would write if I was totally nuts.
The Place: Sunnyvale Mental Rehab in Fermonga, Ohio.
What: A written collage of in-patient work.
Who: Dennis Latham, a former Sunnyvale resident, has completed a dangerous mental quest to bring this first critical volume to print. Mr. Latham, Bill Gump, Coochie Butler, and others give bizarre views on unanswered questions (Ask The Genius and Smart Guy With A Big Old Brain), write questionable novels (Excerpts From Books You'll Never Read), poetry (Homer VanCleish), several short stories, a radio play (The Bump), unique social views, college Cliff Notes (Moby Dick), and other ramblings (The Dangerous Mutant Fern). You may wonder how these people functioned before being confined at Sunnyvale, and if they really exist outside the author's delusions.
What others say: (William Forest, retired psychologist) "I can't imagine the publishing house editor still having a job after this fiasco."
(David 'BoBo' Mcphearson, former Fermonga Mayor) "I loved it. If I would have had this book years ago, I could have been at Sunnyvale instead of the Federal Pen."
(Wendy Marino, vocalist) "Makes about as much sense as most song lyrics."
(Steven Rothberger, accountant) "Now I know the nuthouse where city bus schedules, tax laws, and directions for toy assembly are created."
