Terminated is a thriller about walking into a hornet's nest. Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings about this book.

PREMISE: Gwen Farris crossed the wrong coworker when she gave Stephen Tarbell a poor evaluation. That was all it took to push Tarbell over the edge. He already believes Gwen stole the promotion that was rightfully his. He won't let her take anything else from him. Now it's his turn to take...and take. By the time he's finished with her, Tarbell plans to take her job, her family—even her life.

To some people, it's more than a job...

Leisure Books published it in 2010 and it'll be available in ebook form from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Sony, Diesel, Smashwords and Apple iBookstore in 2011.

I've read this one (and wrote a review on it) and it is really good! From the two crime novels of Simon's I've read, I can say he really know how to end his stories with a bang.

Check that (maybe). BN.com is telling me that a store 10 minutes from my house still has a copy in the store. I'll have to go check this week.

To be honest, I don't know the deal with Leisure books at the moment. I know they have some in the warehouse but stores don't seem to have any--even the online ones. But if you can find one, snap it up. ;)

I'm going to try and find out what the scoop is with them.

So while my wife was sleeping today (she's a nurse and works overnights) I decided to brave the ridiculous crowds out today and head over to the Barnes & Noble that claimed to still have a copy of Terminated.

Now I've worked at B&N in the past, and know that it can be stressful this time of year. But this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. After looking all over the fiction area, and not seeing the book, I went to the customer service desk. After at least 5 minutes of waiting, I see an employee walking my way, and I made sure to make eye contact. After looking at me, she went on to the best seller shelf, pulled some books off, and moved them to the end of the aisle.

I'm watching her do this, and when she's done, she looks back at me again. She says "Have you been helped?" and I tell her no. She walks up to the desk and stares at me. No "How can I help you" or "What are we looking for?" or anything. She just stares.

So I say "I'm looking for a book titled Terminated by Simon Wood." She pulls it up on the computer and says" Yeah, it's in Fiction." Now, I know from working there that the employee must show the customer where a book is, find it, and place it in the customer's hands. Even if there's other people waiting (which there wasn't in this case). This lady acted like I was an idiot not to know where the book was.

So I tell her I've already looked in Fiction, and didn't see it anywhere. Her response was "Sorry."

No "Oh, let's see if we can find it" or "Gee, let me double-check for you." She just stood there staring again. I might have tried to press matters a little more if I thought it would do any good, but this lady was obviously worthless when it came to customer service.

if you do get around to Terminated, you can take your revenge like the characters in the book do. :-)
