I wanted to tell you Tim, that there was one scene in Biohazard that was the balls, it scared the ever loving crap out of me. I didn't write about it in the review because I didn't want to give the best (in my mind) part of the book away, but the scene when they were all in that house and flying bugs came at them was pure genius. Damn, you're one of the few people who can really scare the shit out of someone with your writing.

Tony...there's just something about massing bugs isn't there?

Helluva ride, Tim! Tt is right about the bug scene. But that scene with Sean and Specs and that mutated rat was pretty cringe-inducing, too.

Now I have order The Devil Next Door.

I recently finished another end of the world book, but Biohazard was better, and I think I know why. The other book was almost too polished, like a band that sounds good on the radio but can't play live worth shit. Biohazard is like a good bar band-- they may be rough from time to time, but there's way more soul in their stuff.

I'm getting ready to read Biohazard any day now. I have The Devil Next Door on the way, plus Hive.

I was just telling that kind Zuma guy that Tim Curran has become a must-read author for me.

I still say Dead Sea was amazing, but there was something about Skin Medicine that hit all the right notes with me: scary, scenes of gore done just right, excellent descriptions and characters that felt so real ... atmosphere, I thought Tim had it all going full throttle in Skin Medicine.

But I think I'm going to read Biohazard, The Devil Next Door, and Hive all back-to-back, and make the end of this month and part of June Curran Time!

Tim, I'm naming Biohazard to my list of best end of the world novels I've ever read.

Not one boring page-or paragraph. And like all Curran I've read so far, the descriptions completely blew me away and left me speechless.

Damn fine job. :v

Thanks, man! I really appreciate that. And I see you're reading Jack London. Awesome writer. He really evokes the atmosphere of the north wastelands like no one else.

My brand new copy of Biohazard will imminently be accompanying me to the pub around the corner for a saturday afternoon guzzle, where I shall commence enjoyment of the aforementioned literature.

A very entertaining read, this was. Although I found it different to the other Tim Curran stuff I have read. The focus seemed to be more on fast pace and less on making the characters "real". I find that great dialogue and characters are usual traits of Tim that weren't really present in Biohazard. It was certainly a great adventure story though with plenty of goop and gore. I had a great time reading it.

In some ways it was like Dead Sea, but without the same depth of character personalities that one had. It was similar in that you were always waiting to see what kind of new beastie could be dreamed up for each leg of the adventure. That and the radiation monster.

One thing I didn't get though was why The Shape needed Nash.

Next up is Resurrection then I'll be needing to get Devil Next Door and The Spawning.

Glad you liked it. I think Biohazard is the result of watching all those end-of-the-world type B movies when I was a kid: Day the World Ended, World Without End, Panic in the Year Zero etc. I was always a sucker for stuff like that.
