Though it's been a while since I read Stokers novel, I think mechanically at least, Willy is a much better work of fiction than Dracula. The ending of Dracula sucked (no pun intended), all build up and then *poof* it's over. If judging those books was based on the impact they had during the time of publication, or it's escapist content, then I understand the choice. But if choosing them was based on the quality of writing, how analogous it is to current social issues, or the novel's ability to have a chilling and lingering effect on our thoughts to the point where we become introspective regarding our actions, then Willy would drive a stake through the heart of Dracula. Just saying. |
