Since I have a rare few minutes, I wanted to put this book by Mr. Calvillo in its own topic to comment on it.
I don’t know what others have thought of it. I’ve seen a couple of reviews, but nothing really from the average reader.
Well, I’m a reader and nothing if not average and I got the biggest kick out of it.
I’m not very good at reviews at all. Never have been and not about to change that, but I had to take the time and give my heartfelt appreciation to this well written and wickedly cool book.
To be frank, when I was finished with As Fate would Have It I knew I liked it, but I wasn’t sure if the why I liked it was what Michael had intended until I read the afterwards. Spot on a dime! It worked beautifully. Intense emotion with dry humor.
My favorite line.. and I’m not quoting exactly I’m sure….. “If she can’t except it, then I’ll just have to eat her narrow minded brain”. Other than his diet Montgomery reminded me so much of myself it WAS funny.
To get cannibalism and addiction to walk hand in hand with real, “that’s the way the ball bounces and up shit creek”, life was just so damned connecting. If I ever get the chance to meet Mr. Calvillo I owe him a sturdy hand shake and a drink or two of his choice….. for sure.
