Alrighty let's get down to nitty gritty.

Our current titles that are up for pre-order are:
Necropolis by John Urbancik. 150 numbered softcovers and 26 lettered hardcovers. All the photography is done by John as well. This is a errie story of love and loss set in a massive cemetery.

The Better Year by Bridget Morrow. 100 numbered softcovers. This is a wonderful novella from a new voice in the genre. This is a must have for any collection. There will be no letter edition done for this title so if you are a letter buyer make sure you get your order in for a numbered copy, because you don't want to miss this title.

Shadow of the Dark Angel by Gene O'Neill. 100 hardcover copies. Art by John Pierro who also did the art for John Urbancik's House of Shadow and Ash. There will be a letter edition of this title AFTER the sequel Deathflash has been published later in the year. The letter edition will be a three volume box set that contains Shadow of the Dark Angel, Deathflash and a original novella titled Double Jack.

Necropolis and The Better Year have both been sent to the printers and we should have them in hand by the end of the month. Little Graveyard on the Prairie by Steve Wedel letter edition has also been sent to the printer and we should have those bad boys in by the end of this month or the first week in June. Michael Calvillo has cooked up a nice tasty surprise for the letter edition of As Fate Would Have It and we are putting the final touches on the edition. Also we are putting together Scott Edelman's The Hunger of Empty Vessels letter together. Shadow of the Dark Angel is set to be sent to the printer this Friday and we will have them in hand the second week of June. If it doesn't sell out (which we are down to about a dozen copies) we will have them with us for the Stoker weekend June 12th-14th in Burbank.

Speaking of the Stoker weekend there will be a Little surprise for those who are attending! Can't tell you but you might be able to suess from the very small hint. Our lifetime and yearly subscribers need not fear they will also be getting the Little surprise. Hope many of you can attend it looks to be fun filled and jammed packed with all kinds of activities!

After the dust settled on The Lost Tribe shipping it looks like we have two letter slots open. If you are interested let us know and we can get you started on the Bad Moon Books letter editions starting with Lost Tribe.

Well it looks to be a bit busy, but fun here at the Moon but we are always glad to hear from you so drop me a line at liz@badmoonbooks.com to chat!

It's that time again! Just a few updates and notes. After reading the last post I can see that our timetimeable got pushed back by about two to three weeks on some publications and for that I apologize.

First up we are now shipping out The Better Year by Bridget Morrow. Her first novel Master won the Los Angeles Black Book Expo Award for fiction. She is a great talent and we are pleased to publish her first novella. Here is a bit about the title:
Marcie fights the fear of cancer, her childhood, and something much darker. A haunting tale of troubled youth, love gone bad, and demons both real and perceived. Marcie is a woman haunted by two peoplw. A childhood loss and unconscious decisions made as a teenager, plunge her into a place of darkness she never imagined exsisted. The people haunting Marcie are obsessed with her. One tries to save her while the other is hell bent on destroying her. Both leave her soul at risk during the most vulnerable time in her like. The people tearing Marcie apart--are Marcie

Limited to 100 numbered copies, signed by the author. 63 pages. Art by Erin Wells. There will be NO letter edition for this title so if you are one of our letter buyers and want to keep that collection complete you gotta grab a copy of the numbered. We are more then half sold out, so don't miss out on this title.

Next we have Necropolis by John Urbancik. This is the third title we have done of John's and this is another great story. Fright.com did a small review about it:
An extended prose poem masquerading as a horror novella, this is a wondrously strange, occasionally gruesome tale, somewhat reminiscent of the poetic horror fests of T.M. Wright but very much the product of the extremely gifted John Urbanicik (whose other publications include the novels BREATH OF THE MOON and SINS OF BLOOD AND STONE).

In the midst of a vast cemetery, where “gravestones and mausoleums seem to go on forever in every direction,” several eccentric individuals are caught up in a drama involving murder, sacrifice, capture and escape. It all takes place over the course of a single night that leaves everyone involved irretrievably altered (in every possible sense of the word).

There’s Kelli, a photographer lured into the cemetery by an unseen flute player; Kevin and Jill, a couple in search of a wishing well; another couple, Anna and Darren, who are looking to perform a magical incantation. There’s also a ghostly individual named Auguste and a malevolent entity known as the Spider-Queen--who’s looking for her next meal! Auguste and the Spider-Queen dwell in the cemetery, while the others can’t seem to escape the place.

The overall nature of these peoples’ shared predicament isn’t exactly hard to figure out, although John Urbanicik’s aims aren’t as cut and dried as you might think. As one character comments, “Death comes in layers…you cross one just by being at the cemetery.” Hence the increasingly surreal exploits of Kelli, Kevin, Jill, Anna and Darren.

NECROPOLIS contains some good creepy-crawly stuff--a woman trapped in a crypt, a bloody stabbing, at least one mass spider attack--but its real virtues are in the dreamlike atmosphere and thoughtful narrative, which is packed with literary allusions (“The Raven” and “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” being the most blatant). The prose is engagingly frank and down-to-Earth; together with the fast 82-page count, this ensures a one-sitting read for those unafraid of fine writing that demands much and rewards more.

Here is a little about the book:
In the great city of the dead, night brings life to the gravesides. Spirits rise as the sun falls. Love is tested. Mysteries are presented. Strangers drift through the stones. Queens. Spiders. Goddesses. Death. In the great city of the dead, a dollar coin might buy your dearest wish. A photographer might capture her own heart. A breeze might reveal a raven. Listen to the sounds of the flute, listen to the soundless fireflies, listen to the ravensong.

It's not only ghosts that wander the Necropolis.

Limited to 150 numberd softcovers and 26 lettered hardcover copies, signed by the author. 100 pages. Filled with color and black and white photography by the author.

OK now onto that fun question "What's at the printer?!"

Shadow of the Dark Angel by Gene O'Neill is at the printer and should be in our hands by mid July. It is book four of our Eclipse line and shows a bit of a darker side of the author. There will be 100 hardcover copies done. There will be a letter edition of this title AFTER the sequel Deathflash has been published later in the year. The letter edition will be a three volume box set that contains Shadow of the Dark Angel, Deathflash and a original novella titled Double Jack. It is also filled with AMAZING art by John Pierro who also did the art for John Urbancik's House of Shadow and Ash. There are only about 10 copies left and with Gene already being one of our sell-out authors (Confessions of St. Zach & Lost Tribe) you don't want to miss out!

Little Graveyard on the Prairie by Steve Wedel letter edition is at the printer and should be to us by the first week in July. Steve has added two little bonus stories for this edition. One with our letter buyer names and a short story set in novella's setting.

Miranda by John R. Little letter editions are almost finished. Chris Hedges is finishing up the last batch and will be shipping them to us in the next week or two. He was able to get a handful shipped to us to show off at the Stoker Weekend and they are beautiful. Did I mention that it was a Stoker Award Winner for Long Fiction....no...well it was! Congrats to John for an amazing story. Also included in the letter edition is a bonus name story titled Hunting for Miranda that includes our letter buyers names. It a great addition to the Miranda timeline.

Now it's the "What's up for pre-order?" and "What's coming up soon?"

This Ghosting Tide by Simon Clark. Limited to 300 number copies and 26 letter hardcovers. Once again the AMAZING Zach McCain has hit the ball out of the park with the art. The title is up for pre-order and will be going to the printer at the end of the June. Here is a bit about the story:
‘Ghosts from past, present and future demand victory over the living - at any cost.’

The acclaimed author of Vampyrrhic, Blood Crazy and The Night of the Triffids delivers an off-beat quest for ghosts and haunted realms.

‘Coffins! That’s what you’re seeing. Dozens and dozens of coffins… bone boxes, sarcophagi, caskets, narrow houses… whatever you want to call them: there they are!’

For this highly-entertaining novella Simon Clark drew inspiration from filming his series Winter Chills for BBC TV. Yes, this book is decidedly occult fiction - yet it is seasoned with real-life experiences of eerie places.

A motley band of present-day ghost-hunters, headed by the wealthy, loveable and utterly eccentric Lord ‘Byron’, search for the paranormal. Their hunt leads them from a spot of illegal tomb-cracking in an English graveyard to a lonely stretch of beach. One reputedly visited by the ‘Ghosting Tide.’ That night the ocean rolls back. To the team’s astonishment the tide keeps falling, and falling… strange artefacts are revealed, shipwrecks exposed, disturbing creatures loom into view…

Byron and his friends venture out onto what was once ocean bed. There, they encounter a haunted world that is as surreal as it is loaded with danger. Then the Ghosting Tide sweeps over them…

GET READY FOR TOMB WARS!

The Adventures of Mr. Maximilliian Bacchus and His Travelling Circus by Clive Barker letter edition will be going to print by at the end of June. We have just finished placing the additional art by Richard Kirk ans well as a few extra surprises. The book and traycase will be bound in green leather that is pressed to look like aligator skin. The traycase will be lined with silk. Again there are a few little details that we are keeping quite about so that when the book arrives you will be quite surprised.
The Ultra edition that is being designed and bound by Marilyn Bonventure will be out at the end of the year. Clive and Richard are currently doing the original drawings that will be included in the edition.

The Hunger of Empty Vessels by Scott Edelman letter edition is in production and will be sent to the printers in the next two weeks. Cesar will be typesetting the bonus story and after some editing off to the printers it goes. Along with the bonus story is a extra illustration by Dominic Harman.

Thae Gray Zone by John R. Little

Bad Moon Books in 2009. Introduction by James Moore. Art by Alan M. Clark. Limited to 250 softcovers and 26 hardcover letter editions. Signed by the author on the limitation page. Cover art by Alan M. Clark and $19.95

In 1984, Henry Davidson took the holiday of a lifetime, spending his summer in Aswan, Egypt.

The trip changed his life in many ways, but when he swallowed a secret powder handed down from generation to generation, the biggest change was yet to come.

Now Henry could remember his future as well as his past. And he could live his life out of sequence, choosing the age he wanted to live, from when he was a small child to when he turned 52. Beyond that is a hazy Gray Zone where he has no memories.

What happens when Henry is finally able to break through and live in the Gray Zone is horrifying and deadly, and Henry has to face the consequences of the decisions he has made through his life.

From the Bram Stoker award winning author of Miranda comes this new novella of love and terror and the mysteries of time.
