I read two Tom Piccirilli mini books this afternoon and something inside of me died.
I began feeling numb while reading “Fuckin’ Lie Down Already” and when I finished “Alchemy”, all I could feel was empty.
This book is all about losing. Losing your family, losing your mind, and losing your soul.
It just keeps beating you in the head with one desperate image after another with only small dollops of black humor that has all the effectiveness of a band aid on an amputation.
This story is Tom Piccirilli uncensored, unfiltered, and unrestrained. It’s brutal…but if you can take a story that has no hope, a story where there is nothing redemptive, a story that distills all human emotion down to its lowest, grittiest levels…I would highly recommend this book.
I've been in the mood to read something as brutal as this novella again and since we have to wait (forever it seems) for more Pic (though I hear Cemetary Dance is promoting a new Pic story anthology), so I decided to pick up The Dog Syndrome and This Cape Is Bleeding. I read some reviews before ordering and I understand they are pretty intense books of poetry.

CAPE is a collection of poetry but THE DOG SYNDROME is a chapbook of early stories, a couple of which were reprinted in DEEP INTO THAT DARKNESS PEERING, if I remember correctly. And it gets harder and harder to remember correctly.
Thanks for the kind words, Tt, hope you enjoy.
