Fresh off their successful Ihale fantasy series and their paranormal Ghost Punch series, A. Lawrence has created another world for both adults and teenagers to enjoy wandering. In Last Light magic is dying. There is one archivist, Andi, who is the only archivist in decades to care for the Rose Briar Coven. The vampires are slowly taking over as the sun lamps fail and nobody knows how to keep the vampires at bay. Tasked with finding the secret of life in the nonconventional library inside a giant magical tree, Andi and her best friend, werewolf Lexa, and her new vampire friend, Blythe must find the answer. Along the way, Andi falls in love with Blythe, and I adore this unconventional supernatural lesbian romance and how it unfolds sweetly with time. The reader will meet a host of colorful characters and experience a bunch of magic in the tree library and discover the answer to why this library is more important than all the others in the city.
A. Lawrence’s sweet, romantic, and funny fantasy keeps both adults and teenagers entertained. Their words paint images with bold swatches of color and leave no corners untouched. The ending delivers the plot in a neat bow leaving readers smiling. For a light, feel-good fantasy, Last Light is the perfect pick-me-up.
